Pregnancy can be a mystifying time for any woman, whether it is her first pregnancy or whether she has been through it many times before. Your body changes is unusual ways and does strange things that may make you wonder just what is happening inside you. Most pregnancy symptoms are a direct result of changes in hormone levels and the development of the baby in your womb. Each trimester brings many changes to both the developing baby and to your body, and understanding these changes will make your pregnancy much more enjoyable.

Stages of pregnancy

Trimester Stage

During the first trimester of pregnancy, you are just learning you are pregnant and coming to terms with both your fears and your hopes for the future. You may have been surprised to find out you were pregnant, and you or your partner may have some ambivalent feelings about the pregnancy. You may also begin to have fantasies and dreams about your child.

Second Trimester Stage

This second stage of pregnancy stops until the end of the seventh month of pregnancy and is often times the easiest stage of pregnancy, since most of the pregnant women may start to recover some of their energy level. During this stage, the woman’s stomach begins to expand and those around her will start to mark that she is pregnant. At this time any experiences of morning sickness must dissipate, however, some of the pregnant women might continue to experience it (generally to a lesser intensity). At this point she might also feel her baby beginning to kick and then to move. If wished, one can find out whether she is having a baby girl or baby boy. In other words, sex determination is quite possible.

Third Trimester Stage

As the pregnant woman enters into the final trimester of her pregnancy she might notice that she feels more sensitive, emotional and anxious. Therefore, she should be given rest; as such feelings are very common. It is common to start worrying about what kind of mother she is going to be. Many times, the increased size and weight of the fetus can cause severe pain (often in the back), making pregnant woman feeling more uneasy and anxious.
