Women make out the signs of pregnancy differently. Many women may experience the symptoms of pregnancy within a short time of conception, while it may take weeks for some to realize that they are pregnant. Some luckier ones may not feel any signs of discomfort. The first signs of pregnancy appear when the egg is implanted in the uterus about a week after being fertilized.

Baby: Your baby is still just a glimmer in your eye. Although it's confusing to think about a pregnancy starting before your child is even conceived, doctors calculate your due date from the beginning of your last cycle since it's hard to know exactly when conception occurred.

Different women experience pregnancy in different ways. Pregnancy symptoms may vary in intensity and duration - and some women may not experience some common pregnancy symptoms at all.

Weeks one and two are an extremely exciting and mystifying time for most women. Most women eagerly start calculating their pregnancy week by week as soon as they decide to conceive. During pregnancy week 1 and beyond you will experience the joy of creating life, which is a life-changing event for most women!

The most common symptoms that women experience during ovulation include some mild cramping, which may occur on one or both sides of the body.

Your first week sign of pregnancy is darkening of the areola (the dark area around the nipple). It is among the earliest of signs. Therefore, when you expect to conceive, watch for this particular pregnancy sign in the first week.

At the end of week one of pregnancy, your menstrual period should have let up and your uterine lining begins to build up once again and the uterine lining thickens to soon receive the egg. Several of your eggs are ripening and one ovary or the other is preparing to release a single egg that is ready for fertilization.

First pregnancy symptoms can be noticed in about 2 - 3 weeks after the last menstrual cycle. The most indicative entry in the signs of pregnancy however is a missed period, which obviously would take a few more days to be apparent. Here, however please keep in mind that a missed period does not definitely indicate that you are pregnant. There could be other causes of delayed cycle, which must be taken into consideration.

Implantation Bleeding:

Implantation bleeding is the earliest pregnancy symptom. About eight days after conception the embryo implants itself into the uterine wall. Some women will experience spotting as well as some cramping.Other Explanations: Actual menstruation, altered menstruation, changes in birth control pill, infection, or abrasion from intercourse.

Cravings for Particular Foods:

Desiring particular or unusual types of food is a well known pregnancy symptom. About 85 percent of women report at least one food craving during pregnancy.

Lastly, around the end of the first week of pregnancy you may experience irritability. Again, this is not just regular irritability. It's an irritability that you cannot explain, i.e., there is no logical reason why you are irritated, other than YOU ARE PREGNANT and your hormones are soaring!
